Incubator/Accelerator Program

Beginning in 2025, our plan is to host 5-10 local organizations in a unique program designed to help you build your capacity and expand programs and services. You will have an opportunity to share our collaborative space as you work and learn with other organizations with regular access to mentoring and support. We are currently working on the design and build out of the space, which should be finished by late May, 2025.

How many people from our team can participate?

The ideal team size is 2-4 people. If you’re a solo executive director, then please consider inviting a key Board member to participate with you.

What’s the expected commitment to the program?

We strongly believe in the benefits of working with and alongside a community of peers. There is magic in having a cohort of like-minded, committed individuals who are striving to take their organizations to the next level—to bounce ideas off, to challenge your perspectives, and to help solve your challenges.

Thus, we are suggesting that cohort members plan to work from the Incubator space for at least three, half-days a week. While some of that time will be devoted to discussions, you will also have ample time to work on furthering your own organizational needs such as emails, meetings, etc.

Where is the incubator’s space?

The City of Beaverton is serious about strengthening their support for community-based organizations, as evidenced by the Social Services Funding Committee grants, and this newly-established Nonprofit Incubator. As such, the City has renovated the 3rd floor of the Beaverton Building at the Round to include ~1,600 square feet for the Incubator as part of the Oregon Startup Center.

What are the attributes you’re seeking in successful applicants?

We are seeking nonprofits who are in the “early growth” stage and aligned with the focus areas outlined below. This means that the organization is relatively young and has already shown that their programming efforts are making a difference in their community. AND, they are committed to dramatically increasing their impact, while also creating a sustainable organization.

The incubator is not intended for very early-stage nonprofits which are exploring new ideas. Also, the incubator is not really a fit for well-established nonprofits that have been in operation for a longer period of time and who have revenues above $500k.

Can I still participate if my nonprofit isn’t located in Beaverton?

Absolutely! We know that our communities are not bound by lines drawn on a map. That said, we received our initial funding through the City of Beaverton, and we will be prioritizing organizations with significant operations in Beaverton and the surrounding area.

What are the priority focus areas?

    • Poverty alleviation/Homelessness/Hunger
(rental assistance, tenant education, workforce training, food support services, nutrition education, etc.)
    • Youth and out-of-school-time programming
(disconnected youth, socio-emotional supports, English language learner (ELL), youth engagement, life & work skills development, etc.)
    • Healthcare & Eldercare
(affordable access to care, mental health/addiction services, senior engagement)
    • Immigrant, Refugee, marginalized/disconnected communities
(social service navigation, resettlement, ELL education, LGBTQIA+, social services)
